Iphone in Canada June 9th but Rogers Continues to Gouge

Alternative tittle: Rogers Wireless Favours US media.

You may be able to buy an iphone in June, too bad you won't be able to afford using it.

The $7 "unlimited" limits your usage to certain sites. This blog, for example, would cost you, at a minimum, 50 cents per MB (or $500 per GB). But don't take my word for it. Go to the Rogers site and do the math.

By the way, in case you don't want to bother with the Rogers site, here is the strange liste of sites included in the "unlimited" Internet for $7:

Yahoo!® Search
WIRELESS BOX OFFICE™
ScoreMobile 2.0
Yahoo!® Canada
Windows Live™
Google
Flickr™
TMZ
Wikipedia
ebay
canada.com
CBCnews
Digg
BBC
Government of Canada
Time
New York Times
Facebook™
MySpace™ mobile
LookAtMe!
Air Date by Air G

Governement of Canada, but not your provincial or municipal government sites. Those are $15 per MB for the first 5MB, going down to $0.50 per MB after the first 20MB (and that is Rogers' cheapest plan!)

New York Times, but not MacLeans or the Toronto Star! And certainly not the BlueJays web site. You can go to Digg.com, but if you link to any of the articles, locate your nearest pawn shop.

Rogers will never change! Their data plan promotion gets even more deceptive. On their webste they now mention "Reduced Pay-per-use rates*
Click here for more info". When you click for more info, they offer some useless 'Data Alert' notification but the pay per use rate is still the same - 5 cents per KB.
